OUR FUTURE SELVES

Maybe you have never thought of me.
Maybe we have never really met.

We exist before any questions
could be raised.
We exist to remind each other of
the promises we made.

We exist to accept
feelings without evidence,
to shake each other’s certainty
and leave space for revelation.

Would souls deny bonds?
Is logic our enemy?

Connections are always real.
We make them so.
They exist within us.
They shape our future selves.
